Bergamo Thoughts

The city of Bergamo is split into the lower and upper city. The lower city is nice but the real jewel is Città Alta ("Upper Town") which is a funicular ride up the hill (you can also walk or take the bus).

The Upper Town’s Venetian defense fortress is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site recently recognized in July 2017.

The Upper Town has several churches that will make your jaw drop!

From the top of the hill you have beautiful views of the Alps to the north along with beautiful views of Bergamo as well as Milano on a clear day!

One can easily get lost in the narrow cobblestone streets winding thru the beautiful old buildings!

The gelato in Italy is the REAL DEAL as well as several local dishes to Bergamo that were delicious!

Aperol Spritz is a very popular orange drink in Italy which is a refreshing and a must try!

We also really enjoyed trying local wines in each area of Italy. The wine is all fantastic but you can definitely tell the difference by each region.
